Who is the course for?

This course is for those who already hold a recent CLAIT qualification or who have good existing IT skills.

What does the course aim to do?

This programme includes the European Computer Driving Licence Levels 1 and 2. The course will allow you to develop and demonstrate competence in a wide range of IT skills. Using the Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, you will be able to work efficiently and effectively towards this nationally recognised qualification.

What will be covered?

The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is designed to cover the key concepts of computing. To achieve the full ECDL certificate you need to pass both levels.

This course is available during flexi learning sessions.

Mondays 13.30 - 15.30
Tuesdays 10.00 - 12.00 and 18.00 - 21.00
Wednesdays 13.30 - 15.30 and 18.00 - 21.00
Thursdays 10.00 - 12.00

Students will work through textbooks at their own pace with a tutor present for support when required.

It may be possible to use the training room at other times, but there will not be a tutor available for support.

What are the final qualifications?

The European Computer Driving Licence is awarded by the British Computer Society (BCS) on the successful completion of all eight modules. You will have an individual logbook, which will be endorsed as each module test has been passed. You will receive the BCS Levels 1 and 2 Certificates for IT Users and the ECDL full certificate.

How will I be assessed?

All eight modules will be assessed externally by BCS set assignments. You will be entered for the tests by your tutor, with opportunities to prepare through practice assignments. You can complete the assignments when you feel ready.

Will I have to study at home?

You will need to use some time outside course hours to revise for assessments and prepare for Module 1 and 8.

How much does the course cost?

£80.00 for Part 1 then an additional £160.00 for Part 2
