The Trust was set up some years ago to work with and sometimes independent of local government to improve the qualityof life for residents and businesses in the Pewsey Community Area. This it does through activities such as events, grants, and business support and community initiatives such as ePewsey.
The strength of any organization is in its membership and PACT is no exception. Membership is free and -
Membership is open to anyone or group who !!
The PACT area is made up of the parish areas that include –

PACT is not an alternative to the Parish, District or County Council it is a community business working for the community with all profits put back into the area The management of PACT is by elected Directors/Trustees who are responsible to the membership, PACT is a Company Limited by Guarantee.
Simply download our application and then post it back to us. Alternatively, just drop into The PACT Centre on the High Street.
The Pewsey Area Community Trust, (PACT), was set up nearly seven years ago, to replace the former Pewsey Business Steering Group. However, it is only in the last three years that it has been formally established as a Development (or Community) Trust. Its prime purpose in life is to enhance the economic and environmental well being of all those who live in the Vale of Pewsey (22 villages in all!). In fact, Development Trusts were set up specifically to address local community needs, (properly demonstrated through CONSULTATION), and to be the body that applies for funding DIRECT, or helps other local organizations to submit their own bids.
In its early years many people perceived PACT as a "second Parish Council", or simply a body to submit small scale grant applications. It actually is a legally constituted Development Trust, governed by the Companies Act. The Board and Management Committee is made up of LOCAL people, all volunteers, appointed at an Annual General Meeting - which provides a safeguard to the community, who have the ability to appoint those who they feel most comfortable to represent their aspirations for the future.
So, why did I decide to devote my volunteer time, after nearly 40 years as a Parish Councillor, to PACT? Well, it has become almost impossible for Parish Councils to apply for grant aid for community projects - the only route left is via Community Trusts.
An additional, and an attractive, factor in this decision was the make-up of the current Board of Directors, all of whom have the best interests of Pewsey and the surrounding villages as their prime objective.
MIKE ASBURY (that well known Curator of the Pewsey Heritage Centre) is the current vice-chairman,
JOHN TOOLE (well versed in company law and a qualified civil engineer) is the Company Secretary, with the other five directors comprising,
JOHN BREWIN (of Wiggly Bus fame, and a champion of the villages),
LEE GRAFTON (Mr ePEWSEY! and, importantly, another of the younger members of the local ACTIVE community volunteers),
TERRY KEMP (a leading member of the successful bid team for the restoration of the Kennet & Avon Canal),
LINDA FISHLOCK (company secretary of a successful local company, and strong supporter of Pewsey Carnival, and who is also importantly, our Treasurer, and
MARGARET THOMPSON (our most recently appointed member, who has many talents which the Board are rapidly appreciating).
We have a TEAM who all hope to restore Pewsey as a vibrant centre of all things good! But we do need feedback from YOU, the LOCAL community, to fulfil the recommendations from all the recent consultations on the area's long-term future - so please call into The PACT Centre office to tell us! And, finally, as part of that evolvement of PACT, the Board has appointed DAWN MILLER, as our PACT Centre Manager.
