What is a credit union?

A credit union exists to provide an easily accessible way of regular saving and management of individuals finance. Kennet Credit Union is owned by its members i.e. everyone who has savings (known as shares) with us in fact an owner and is entitles to vote at our AGM (Annual General Meeting).

Credit unions are not for profit organisations, meaning that there are no fat cats living off the profits, any profits are returned to the members in the form of dividends.

In effect, Kennet Credit Union is our local bank in which the community save and should they require a loan they may borrow a sum dependant on their shares (or savings) and their ability to repay. Loans are not available to junior members - those under 18 years of age.

Budget Accounts allow members to plan their finances over the year, paying a fixed sum each week or month and calling on the credit union when the bills come in.

Call in for an application form, we can help you fill out the form and you will need to bring proof of ID.

Junior members will require a parents or guardians signature.

If you save enven small amounts when you come to PACT you will be surprised how your capital grows and the freedom that gives you.
